Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Ignition Autocare, Colorado Way, Glasshoughton, Castleford, WF10 4FA, is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@ignitionautocare.co.uk or 01977 807050.

2. What information we collect

When you look up a vehicle or make a booking, we collect: your vehicle's registration number and the details returned about it (make, model, engine size, MOT and tax status); your name, email address and phone number; and any notes or additional details you choose to give us about the work you need.

3. How we use your information

We use this information to look up your vehicle's details, calculate an accurate price, manage your booking, send you a confirmation and any updates about your booking, and to contact you if we need your authorisation for extra work found during a service. If you've opted in, we may also send service reminders or offers by email — you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. Sharing your information

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this booking system: our database provider (Supabase), our website hosting provider (Netlify), our email provider (Resend), our text message provider (ClickSend), Cloudflare (Turnstile, which checks bookings are made by a person and not a bot), and Vehicle Data Global, which looks up registration details from DVLA data. We also use postcodes.io to check whether a postcode is within our collection area. Each provider only receives the data needed to perform its function, and some may process data outside the UK under appropriate legal safeguards.

5. How long we keep your data

Invoices and booking records linked to a payment are kept for 6 years from the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by HMRC.

Customer contact details and vehicle records are deleted, or anonymised, 3 years after your last booking with us unless you book again in that time.

Basic technical records used to prevent abuse (for example, counting booking attempts) are kept for no longer than 24 hours and do not store your IP address or phone number in readable form.

You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing or calling us. We will do so within one month, except for any records we are legally required to keep.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.

7. Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies to make it work properly. Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in, remember your progress through a booking, and remember the choice you make in our cookie banner — these can't be switched off as the site won't function correctly without them.

We may also use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. These are only set if you accept them. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site, which will show the cookie banner again.
